| Dave, I've been checking out the rules on crazy materials and in the DMG it states that equipment made from cold iron is merely twice the price of regular gear. It's adamantine (and darkwood - I think) that has to be masterwork. | |

| Iron, Cold: This iron, mined deep underground, known for its effectiveness against fey creatures, is forged at a lower temperature to preserve its delicate properties. Weapons made of cold iron cost twice as much to make as their normal counterparts. Also, any magical enhancements cost an additional 2,000 gp. Items without metal parts cannot be made from cold iron. An arrow could be made of cold iron, but a quarterstaff could not. A double weapon that has only half of it made of cold iron increases its cost by 50%. Cold iron has 30 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 10. It certainly seems that you are correct, my most humble apologies... | |

| No problem I just thought it was worth checking out, given the circumstances. A more odd problem is that there's no indication which Craft skill applies to making slings (and by extension bullets). Bow goes on Bowmaking, but simple thrown weapons and crossbows go on Weaponsmithing. | |

| Consider Craft (Weaponsmithing) to also cover simple ranged weapons. Although DCs for things such as crossbows will be higher than say a sling..... | |

| If your score is double the requirements, it halves the time taken and so forth. Taking a ten I will get 12 times what I require (21x12=252, requirement is cost in copper pieces i.e 20. 252/20 = 12 point something). Assuming a standard 8 hour crafting day, 8/12 = 2/3 of an hour.
Makes a certain amount of sense, using very good tools I'm making 10 identical small balls. | |

| Hmmm. I don't mean to sound arsey but it would take more than 40 minutes to prepare 10 wax moulds (or other mould type - i don't really know how they were moulded), heat lead to melting point, pour out and wait to cool, before filing off the moulding scrag - nevermind cold forging a substance as hard as iron into similar shapes... I'm thinking of over-riding the rules on this one and calling it as a metal that requires masterworking. | |

| So does cold iron need to be masterwork then? (I don't really want to have to buy masterwork tankards to beat people with heheh) | |

| Actually, I dunno what I'm worrying about, a lump of cold iron will still count as an improvised weapon for me eh? So I need a lump of cold iron, a lump of byshk (or however you spell it) and a lump of adamantine | |
